Carousel

Back from London and I got stuck straight into musical theatre. Were working on Carousel, I haven't actually seen the model yet but have seen a few of the model pieces.
Fraser and I were put to work on making the butchered wood graining on the groyne look like actual bits of wood. We used a few different colours to try and create the natural woody look then we put a wash over it to bring it all together and to bring out the grains of the wood.
It did take a while and it was quite hard to get it to look like wood as the wood graining was questionable so following the lines of the wood didn't really work but it looked a bit odd when we didn't follow the lines after was brought out the grain. It did take quite a while and we just had to get to a point and leave it and wait for Alex's opinion.

Next we worked on Julie's cottage which we just had a few washes, to make the wood look more like wood... This was quite time consuming as the wood just sucked up the paint and it looked like we hadn't even painted it. Once we put on the dirty wash it looked much better. We used the spray gun to make the bottom blocks look like concrete, I think they need more work...

We also did a bit of work on the floor. Sticking bits of foam onto the spaces between the clumps of foam so it didnt look so clumpy. The motivation was low for this task but we did try and make it fun...as much as you can. Bring on bridge week!!
